Bio:
UNDERSTANDING CLIENT VALUES FIRST Shashin strives to understand the clients he’s working with and to grasp their core values. This understanding drives the decisions he’ll make with them in the breakdown of their portfolios and their general financial plans. His goal is to give them better lives. He appreciates that at SFMG, every advisor is encouraged to give the advice he thinks is right for his clients.
HONORING HIS FATHER’S LEGACY Shashin’s father immigrated to the U.S. in 1960 with $8 in hand. Within 40 years, he was one of the country’s leading psychiatrists. In 1999, after battling an illness, his father asked Shashin if he thought he could retire. Shashin’s response was simple, “Dad, you could have retired years ago.” Shashin realized that although his father was extremely successful, he was never given appropriate and informed guidance about his financial journey. Shashin believes this type of guidance is essential, not just for financial planning, but also in planning for lifelong goals.
A TRUE SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT Having successfully earned his CFP® designation and becoming a CFA® charterholder, Shashin shared his own expertise in the classroom by teaching CFP review for six years. He has taught financial planning coursework to thousands of advisors nationwide. Shashin is a Subject Matter Expert with the Investment Management Consultants Association and has co-authored two books on investment management. He is also a CFP Board Ambassador for Texas.
Shashin is a widely recognized leader in the Dallas financial advisor community, serving on the local CFP board three times and having long standing affiliations with the CFA Society and the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) along with other advisory associations. Shashin has won the FPA Honors Award and FPA Chairman’s Award and was a Heart of Financial Planning nominee.
